Summer in Amsterdam

LONDON with Florence, John and Jehn.

Bird on the Wire

so the miss-spellings we had were: bird on a wire, birds on the wire, bird on the wing and the most funny one we heard during our little dutch tour this weekend: birth on a wire. hahahahaha

The Netherlands.

I love Amsterdam, it is my home and it always will be. I moved away, came back, and probably will move again in a few years. But I'll always come back to this city of my friends, parks, family, music and love.

One thing I really hate about The Netherlands is its politics of the last years. I thought Amsterdam was an exception to the right wing young students, but yesterday I found out it isn't. Amsterdam, built by hippies and the sixties, is supposed to be full of freedom, open-minded people and ideals. Yesterday the leader of VVD, party of snobs and right wing egocentrics, had his speech in our most beloved pop-church of Amsterdam; paradiso. He claimed to be so honored that he stood there, place were the Rolling Stones played and Lady Gaga(yes he tried to be very very modern and hip for god sakes). He ended his speech with ' and we will stop squatting', do not touch anyone's property, blablabla bullshit. In any other city in this tiny narrow minded country I expected applause, but in Amsterdam there was supposed to be boo-ing and chair-throwing. In stead people just stood there, gave him an applause. While his 'so beloved pop temple' paradiso is even a squatted building from origin!

In the end I think most of the dutch youngsters are all justnarrow minded, rich kids. Or they pretend to be. I hate it. I think this would've never happened 40 years ago. They just stand there in their 'punk' tshirts, bought at H&M, and in the end of the day they all go home, on their vespa's, to their parents paid houses and pretentious shitt.

London

Last weekend I visited my friend Florence in London. I had an amazing time with loads of bands and good music, shopping and hours of national portrait gallery. The last day I spent at Nico and Camilles place, we made an applepie and it was the best tarte tartin (or something) ever. They are French from origin so what do you expect..

The band of my pie making friends is amazing, check it out on good old myspace: http://www.myspace.com/johnjehn. Another great band I saw this weekend at the Old Blue Last was this band named Colours. Maybe I spell it wrong but I can't find them on myspace. They were brilliant though and reminded me of the Big Pink.
