I was plannig on seeing Beach House perform in the Paradiso tonight together with my lover. Unfortunately i'm too exhausted of the past days. Partying, recording, studying, and so on.. :(
recorded in a hallway. With a lovely very old dog in the background, one secret love parade girl singing in the background and nina on xylophone sitting so far away that the sound delayed. it sounds quiet funny. especially when i tried to sing the word talk but it came out like stalked somehow. enjoy.. Cowboy at sea by BirdontheWire
well its not the best version of the song..i like the atmosphere though
We had a lovely day at the studio of our friends from Secret Love Parade. Two lovely girl who recorded 4 songs of my band: Bird on the Wire. I will put them on tonight at: www.myspace.com/birdotw
It is so hard to study when you are hangover, tired, and you really want to sleep. I am reading about Grandtours and the only thing I can think of is getting away. To my bed.
My sister told me today that it upsets her that people come and go. Just like that. And it is true, it should upset you. People do get older and they won't stop at the border of the little town where they were born. They go away. They might come back. But coming back is not the same as deciding to stay.
I left this place and I came back. More grown up then before. I made friends abroad. I made friends for life. With three of them I will go on a trip to Berlin in two weeks. A Swedish girl, a German guy, a girl from Belgium and me. We all met in London and we will go to Berlin in two weeks. This makes me realise how lovely it is to go away. and to come back. Because it is possible, it really is.
Ari Marcopoulos - It might seem familiar 27 February 2010 until 16 June 2010 FOAM
This spring Foam presents an exhibition by the Amsterdam-born photographer and filmmaker, Ari Marcopoulos. Marcopoulos (b. 1957, Amsterdam) set off for New York in 1979 and quickly became a significant documenter of alternative youth culture in America throughout the last three decades. Foam is showing work from his entire oeuvre, ranging from photos of the emerging hip-hop and downtown art scene in New York in the 1980s and the snowboard and skate culture in the 1990s, to frequent depictions of his own family in Northern California over the last ten years.
I was still having curly hair and my man was still having some kind of beard. I had no clue about what to study and didnt dare to sing. I just convinced the love of my life to chose me as his girlfriend (again) and we were working on de parade for the first time. Oh I loved those days.
And then one day you realize you got older. And you actually do have a clue about who you want to be. And you love studying and you are dreaming about being curator at the MoMa or the Centre Pompidou. And you love writing songs. And you are organising the parties you want to be at and your little sister lives the coolest life in Berlin. And suddenly you actually start loving growing up.
I've done nothing else besides watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer past nights so tonight I am going to party. yesssss.
We finally decided that our bandname should be: Bird on the Wire.
A new band, a new project, with two lovely new people who inspire me very very very much. The songs are floating out of me like they did when I went trough a rough time. Though I am very happy now so they are not so sad anymore! Its different, in a good way.
was amazing. Our party was sold out, the people were great, the music was even better, everyone was totally wrapped up and Oersoep is already plannig the next project.
Here are some pictures of our first Oersoep performance (and we were asked to play again! on a Wild Russian party in Rotterdam February 20).
I write about what I love, think, make, feel, see, hate, eat, hear, need, etc. Anything that is irrelevant to anyone who thinks it is.
